The short answer is no. All of our windows and doors are custom made. We do not do any repairs or glass work. The best thing to do is to call a glass company. Binswanger Glass and East End Glass Shop are two companies in the Richmond, VA area that can help.
Today! :) Seriously, buying replacement windows is a large investment in your home. There are many reasons to purchase new replacement windows as well as many reasons not to purchase them. We would be happy to come over and give you an honest assessment of your windows. Most of the time we get calls when windows are way past their prime, but there have been a few cases where replacing the existing windows would have had little to no benefit.
Most of the time the answer is yes, but not always. Vinyl windows have come a long way. With most everything in life, you get what you pay for. Quality ranges from extremely poor and riddled with problems to very nice and detailed with wood interiors, custom colors, decorative glass, etc. Not all windows are made for all homes. We’ve seen cases where people have invested way too much into their windows and other that have replaced their old windows with new problems. The key is finding a perfect fit for your home.
A good rule of thumb when it comes to budgeting for windows is that you should spend 5-10% of the value of your home on replacement windows. I wish there was an easier answer for this but there isn’t. How much does a new car cost? Are we talking about a Kia or a Porsche? How much does a new watch cost? Are we talking about a Casio or a Rolex? We pride ourselves on getting each homeowner the most bang for their buck without sacrificing quality in any phase of the process.
Warranties vary by manufacturer. It is best to check out our window warranty and door warranty pages. Always refer to the manufacturers’ website for official warranty information.
Your old windows will be hauled away and either donated, recycled or taken to the local landfill. Some homeowners like to pick through old windows and keep some window sashes to make small greenhouses and we’re more than happy to accommodate.
Most of the time, every 1 to 2 days a team can get 10 to 15 windows installed and wrapped. Beware of companies that claim to be faster. Do you want a fast job, or a good job?
Generally vinyl windows take about 2-4 weeks to come in and get installed. Wood, composite, fiberglass and specialty windows take closer to 4-6 weeks or more.
All windows and doors are installed one for one. The old window and door will be removed and the new one installed one at a time to minimize heating or cooling loss.
We do not have a showroom. We will bring samples to your home to see. As with everything, showrooms cost money. We are able to offer reasonable pricing by not taking on unnecessary overhead.
We do not carry any spare window or door parts. The best place to start with repair parts is the manufacturers’ website. First you’ll need to find the manufacturer sticker on your door or window. Windows will have them up in the track or around the window sash. Be sure to check the top sash as well. If you don’t find it on the first window, try another.
